After class I had to pick up a few essentials in town for the night ahead, so grabbed some lunch and made it home by 2:30pm. So then still absolutely pooped had to start prepping for the party. Oh, Julian and I were heading to Newcastle for Hakans birthday bash. As always we left on time but still managed to be running late. Got to Waverly train station with 10mins to collect tickets and buy some booze for the 1.5hrs trip down. Everything went smoothly and found 2 bottles of white vino from M&S and some free plastic cups.. What a service ;)
The train ride down was fun. Some crisps and 2 bottles of wine later we arrived at 8.10pm. Newcastle station looked great.. I was totally surprised, I thought it might look more like Manchester. But of course it was a nice surprise. We walked around a little, got the Metro to Hakans place and joined the party at 9pm with a half bottle of Vodka. Me being a wine drunk didn't need any more booze.. the wine had sorted me for the night, heehee, love it.
Was quiet when we arrived, but then the people came pouring in. By half 10 the place was jumping. The tunes were blazing and everyone was having fun. The door was constantly being banged down by moany neighbors, police and environmentalists!!!!! You'd think they'd never heard of parties in Jesmond! Geez! So I think in the end Hakan got a fine from one of the moaners. Poor boy.
SO..
Our plan was that we get our 5:40am (already booked and paid for) Megabus home. We didn't wanna ruin the Saturday and have nowhere to sleep and feel rooough the next day. Was nice in theory. We even left Hakans at 5am which is more than enough time. When we finally flagged down a taxi on the main street with only 15mins until the bus left, we told the taxi driver where we needed to go.. to the bus station where Megabus comes to - Going to Edinburgh. So, great, we get there with 4 mins to spare. Yay. Only problem was that noone else there was getting a Megabus to Edinburgh.. All to London, and all National Express buses. Great. The taxi driver took us to the wrong station. I looked around and saw the Megabus in the distance, driving by. GUTTED. We had already paid for our bus. and for the taxi to the bus station. And now we needed another taxi back to Hakans and another bus back to Edinburgh the following day.
It wasn't so bad. We managed to get a mattress and blanket to snooze with and woke up with everyone and went for a biig breakfast. Had a cool walk from Hakans to the cafe through the city, so it was nice to see. Really a cool big city. The people looked cooooool, and the sun was shining, nice buildings, lots of places to eat. I was really surprised..
We got to the right bus stop this time and caught out bus at 3:40pm. Every single seat was full and poor Julian got stuck in a normal seat. With his huge legs it really is a shame..Had some crazy little boy sleeping under our chair. Weird :)
But, home now, 7pm. I liiiike Newcastle!!
Oh, and Julian broke Hakans bed.. hahahaha
