26th June 2007 - Flight from NYC

The next day was a little chaotic. I forgot all about the 11am checkout. And because my flight was later on, I thought I had all the time in the world.. but I then found out at 10am, it takes almost 2 hours to get to the airport & I was too late to book the direct bus. Nice one Debs. Instead I took two trains & an airport shuttle. The worst part, as always, is lugging my stuuupid suitcase around. Its always so so heavy. So heavy this time the handle broke. Hm. Check in was smooth, it was a nice airport and I did some lunch then shopping waiting for my departure. I was flying with Zoom-airlines, purely for the fact that they cost $99 to get back to London. But then of course, theres always something else lacking to make up for the price. The flight itself was fine, the staff were nice, food was okay and it was comfortable. But for some reason, the 6 hour journey seemed to never end. I kept thinking to myself, 'surely we're about to land soon????' But no, time passed and still so sign of being near London. In the end, they didn't have some sort of certification yet, so had to do a detour around the globe to get to London. It annoyed me that they obviously knew about this detour and that we were gonna be soo much later than scheduled, but didn't say anything. We came into London a whole 3.5 hours late. So, well and truly missed my connecting flight, and there I was in London, with no connecting ticket and no idea of what I was gonna do.

Well, thanks to a few people, I was on my way to Luton airport (I think) and waiting 7 hours for my next flight. Was feeling okay by then.. had some dinner, bought a book, played some puzzles & just generally killed time. The Easyjet flight to Bramen was fine - it was lovely
to finally see a familiar face after what felt like forever. We jumped a train back to Hamburg and eventually, I was home.

Phhheeeewwwwww. Exhausts me just thinking about it!
