Montag 9th April 2007 - 2pm Coffee+Andreas= 9pm

Holiday Monday! Thank goodness for Easter! What a cool day..

Met with Andreas at 2pm for coffee in town. It wasnt the best weather, but we decided to sit on the balcony of the cafe anyway. We had it to ourselves for all of 5 minutes, and suddenly the other 15 tables were full! I thiiink that we were so cool, everyone decided to follow us. Really. Its the only explaination! We had our cappucinos and left for the Ubahn to Langunsbrucken for the Old Elbe Tunnel walk.

It was such a cool place to see.. taking us about half an hour to walk a 10min path. Yes you guessed it - pictures galore. For all you folk back home: the old Elbe tunnel is a tunnel that runs under the Elbe river. Well, back in the day it was used to get across the water and cars would go into an elevator on ground level, which then took then about 400metres downwards. Quite scary actually.. and as you can imagine - with only 4 elevators that can carry 1 car each, its not the most efficient and timely way to travel. Soooo, they have built the newww Elbe Tunnel, only for cars, and the Old one is now decorated with Art hanging on the.. 'oh whats the word again Andreas????? hahahahahaha' - might it be.. ceiling?? Lool. I think he asked for that word at least 6 times today :)
When we got to the other side of the Elbe River, we sat on a wall overlooking the water and mass build up of beautiful houses, hotels, bars and ships. We even saw a ship swimming right by us. Wait.. swimming, is that the right word?????? Heeheeehee. The funniest part of the day with Andreas is always when he uses literal translations for words and of course I always know what he means, but it sounds so funny! We sat there for about an hour i think, watching the boats swim by.. even saw a swimming crane. How strange! We walked back through, snapped some more & had a mini English lesson on "Length and WIDTH, Long and WIDE". Educational and fun :)

We exited the tunnel and went on the search for coffee and fischrolls (yuk). 3 seconds later I saw the cutest little Mini-Dach, which started my pining for the next 30 mins about how much I want one.. Sorry Andreas! We walked along the Harbour checking out all of the shops and cafes, stopping off quickly to buy myself some souvineers, in the form of Flags. One for Hamburg, one for The Deutschland!! Theyre now proudly placed on my wall for the next month. We walked.. and walked.. and walked, to the very end and found a nice little place for some fried potatoes, pretzel and fischrolls (did i already say yuk? then again.. yuuukkkk). Not so nice staff, but yummiie food, and nice views onto the Elbe.. by candelight.. in the daytime. But still, lovely! After a munch we took another long walk down the harbour stopping for a look at the ships, taking some pics and having a gab.. we made our way right to the bottom and realised the ship we were trying to get into, was closed. So we headed back to the Elbe Tunnel area and climbed what must have been 3,000 steps to reach the Hotel Hafen Hamburg where we were going for drinks. After an hour of stair climbing, barely still breathing, we went to the Roof Cocktail Bar which was aweeeeeeesome. On the way up, the views over the city were incredible.. we arrived 3 mins before happy hour ended, so managed to get 2 drinks half price.. mmm. Only an hour later on route to a toilet stop, I passed a window and caught sight of the Hamburger Dom. It.... looked.... ammmmmazing. The entire area was lit up by rides and people. Desperate to go there!!!!!!! We sipped our happy hour cocktails, mine being a yummy apricot fizz then ordered round 2. A thick & fruity banana one for Andreas, and for me.. a surprise. I asked for a champagne one, and he came back with a strawberry champers. So good that I finished it and ordered another by the time Andreas was half way through his..

9pm we said goodbye and parted ways at the beautiful Schlump. I arrived home with just enough time to pop in for a quick shower before heading to Julians to visit ZaZa for moooreee happy-night cocktails. Got there and it was really quiet, which I love. Had a 2 rounds of 'Sex on the Beach', Julio opting for 'Zombie' + with a round of Jagermeister, eeuuugh, but even a little dish of Olives and kaperns to munch on. Think we made our way back to his around 1am... stopping at the park for a slide down the chute and a swing of the swings.
